Travancore Pakka Biriyani, the most popular dish from the southernmost tip of the Indian peninsula was served for the first time at Calicut for the wedding celebration of ‘Arfa & Ishan’ at K-Hills Resorts
on July 5, 2024.
Travancore Pakka Biriyani has a history of more than 200 years. It was served two centuries ago in the Kingdom of Travancore on special occasions like weddings. It was a celebrated dish in that period.
The now 84-year-old Heritage Hotels of Azad Corporate House pioneered serving this legendary delicacy to the common man through the same hotel 8 decades ago. The most interesting historical fact is that it has been served from the same site in which the restaurant was started 84 years ago. This is probably a unique story in south India. This would probably be the only restaurant in India serving the same delicacy from the same site from where it was started serving to the general public.
Travancore Pakka Biryani is still the most celebrated delicacy in the southern tip of Kerala. The Biriyani follows the traditional recipe with long rice and the traditional Dhum.
Azad Corporate House is doing all it can to take this delicacy which forms the core of the Travancore Cuisine to be celebrated across the world in all parts of the globe.
